The Readies and the Magic Shop played the Roche bar in Port Huron this past Saturday. It was pretty bad ass. The Readies are Dan Kroha (the Gories, Demolition Dollrods) new rock-n-roll trio and the Magic Shop are a loud bit of jangle that includes Steve Nawara of Rocket 455 and Detroit Cobras fame on guitar and vocals. Bunch of pics Dale Merrill took and commentary over at Smashin' Transistors. Go check it out! And yes...these were all shot on actual film.
One man roots rock-n-roll band Subourbon Son will be having his CD release party at the Roche Bar in Port Huron Saturday night. Also on the bill local fun-punks the McFlys and Ohio's Death By Rodeo. Showtime is around 10pm and there's no door charge.
Fans of sex kitten Brigitte Bardot are having the 10th annual Brigitte Bardot Vidfest from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Quay Street Brewing Co. in Port Huron. Each year, fans celebrate the birthday of the international movie star in the basement of the brew pub, 330 Quay St. A collection of rare movies and documentaries, some never seen in Port Huron, are shown on the wide-screen, high-definition television.Examples of film art that promoted her career, which lasted from 1952 until she retired from films in 1973, will be on display as well as rare lobby cards, posters, movie stills and autographs.
The films scheduled are Paparazzi(1963), Et Dieu crèa le femme(1956), Voulez-vous danser avec moi?(1959) and La bride sur le cou(1961). The event is free.
Tonight see musical ingenuity happen at the Roche Bar in downtown Port Huron. If you've ever asked yourself "Who needs pesky band members when you can do it all by yourself" you should stop by and check it out.
